So a few years ago it was announced that Toxic Holocaust would be hitting our shores, to great excitement. Then it was postponed. Then it just sorta dropped of the timetable, being indefinitely put on hold, then it was cancelled. People were pretty pissed, not just because they were hugely disappointed but because of the lack of information. So when earlier this year I got invited to a Toxic Holocaust gig on facebook, I didn’t get my hopes up. Sure enough a few hours later the event was cancelled, but unlike the others it was quickly put back up (good troll guys). So a huge thanks goes to Headless Horseman for pulling this notorious gig off!
Tove Partington sat down with the stunningly talented Lindsay Schoolcraft, the voice of Cradle of Filth’s female vocals, keyboard and harp. Talking about being a woman in a male dominated industry, veganisim and Cradle of Filths (hopefully) upcoming tour of New Zealand, give it a watch below!

If this past weekend’s metal-fest at The Kings Arms with Red Fang and Beastwars has left you wanting more, or you just need to clean out the cobwebs, check out this brand new track from Lamb Of God. The song is called Still Echoes and it is taken from the forthcoming album, VII – Sturm & Drang. Click here to listen to Still Echoes:
Unless you have been living under a rock somewhere you are likely aware last night was the final show of the Deathcrusher NZ tour, and I have no need of my (blood and booze stained) notebook to declare it gig of the fucking year. The Kings Arms was more packed than I have seen it in a long time, and the notoriously late Auckland crowd was lining up out the door before eight. It was a tight show, and if you missed it; well…sucks to be you. I do have to wonder who the fuck all these people were though, as most Auckland gigs recently have been embarrassingly dead. So kids, if you want more big bands, don’t forget to support your local scene first.

It’s a pretty exciting time of year, with some MASSIVE gigs coming up, and some amazing music sneaking ever closer. This bogan is excited! There has also been some sad news, what with the tour van of KHAOTIKA and WORMREICH crashing with three fatalities, and Scott Kelly of Neurosis fame’s wife becoming gravely ill, so here is a amusing screenshot of Shane Embury from Napalm Death to lighten the news..

The 13th Floors Tove Partington sat down with Shane Embury (Napalm Death, Venomous Concept, Brujeria) to talk about Politics, Music, the upcoming Napalm Death/Carcass tour of New Zealand, and demented walruses.

It’s a Friday and good news abounds; firstly, Napalm Death and Carcass have announced a second Valhalla show, and I am pretty fucking jealous, so if you missed out on the first sold out show don’t be a fool a second time and get your damn tickets asap!
Recent controversy surrounds NZ’s longest running metal radio show ‘The Axe Attack’; it seems the powers that be have axed it from the Sunday slot. The website has been de-registered, which brings a bit of doubt to the story the Rock is just doing up the offices, as does the Paul Martins statement ‘I would love to comment but I can’t’. A facebook group ‘bring back the Axe Attack’ has been set up, head over and give it a like; Pauls contribution to NZ Metal can’t be overstated, so I hope The Rock do the right thing.
